THE STORY
Upon the wind swept shores of a desolate English seaside town stands the Byzantium guesthouse. After years of being abandoned, its doors are about to be opened again by the predatory Clara (Gemma Arterton), who plans on turning the hotel into a brothel, and her introverted daughter Eleanor (Saoise Ronan). But the undead duo has a dark secret that goes back 200 years and is about to reach its ungodly and deathly climax.

THE LOWDOWN
Neil Jordan really does go for the jugular in this strikingly visual film adaptation of Jane Eyre screenwriter Moira Buffini’s stage play, A Vampire Story, while Gemma Arterton (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters) and Saoirse Ronan (The Host) are just superb as the mother and daughter duo. This is a return to form for Jordan, best known for A Company of Wolves and Interview with a Vampire, who recently gave us the very bloody and very sexy Showtime drama, The Borgias.
